2022 Spooky Season: Hair-Raising Halloween Events in the Lake District

October is a fantastic time of the year to visit the Lake District, with all the vibrant autumn colours on display. With a wide array of haunted castles, spooky woods and frightening Halloween events taking place this month, why not visit the Lake District this October half-term?! The Beastly Brockhole Halloween Experience

Halloween spookiness will once again descend on Brockhole from 20th-31st October 2022, promising more monsters, activities, and frightening fun than ever before. Purchase one of Brockhole’s “Pumpkin Passports” and gain access to over 20 fearsome activities and spooky shows, including The Haunted Forest, The Giant Pumpkin Trail, Mad Professor Pumpernickels Crazy Science Show, Halloween Arts and “Witch”crafts and much more. There will also be a “Day of the Dead” procession at 6pm each day, with devilish drummers welcoming our ancestors for All Hallows Eve. An event not to be missed this Halloween!

The Monstrous Muncaster Castle Halloween Festival

Head to Muncaster Castle from 22nd-30th October 2022 and watch the spooks come out to play for their annual Halloween festival. Are you brave enough to enter the Scary Maze, will you find your way along the Trick or Treat Trail, and can you defeat the undead in their Zombie Shootout?! Other evil entertainment includes fire juggling shows, the Big Top Circus, food and drink stalls, face painting, silent disco, bird displays and more. Book one of the Halloween Castle Tours and meet the ghosts of Muncaster, as they tell spooky stories from the shadows of the castle. Fancy dress is encouraged!

Hellish Halloween Half-Term at Carlisle Castle

Gather your little monsters and get ready for a ghoulishly good day out at Carlisle Castle from 22nd-30th October 2022. Follow Dennis, Gnasher, and friends to solve the creepy clues and complete the fun family quests around the castle grounds. They are also hosting some frightening ghost tours after dark – join the storytellers as they guide you on a horrifying journey through Carlisle’s past, with terrifying tales of ghosts, supernatural sights, and historical horrors galore.

Hair-Raising Halloween Week at Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway

True fear will descend upon the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway from 22nd-30th October 2022 for a full week of ghoulish goings-on. They will be running a whole host of terrifying activities, designed to get the whole family in the spooky spirit. With a petrifying pumpkin competition, devilish double-headed trains, and a wicked witch hunt, we guarantee your trip to the railway will be jam-packed full of frightening fun this October half term!

The Wicked Watchtree Halloween Family Day & Horror Trail

Watchtree is hosting not one but two freakishly fun events this Halloween: the Halloween Family Day & the Halloween Horror Trail. Take the whole family to Watchtree on 30th October 2022 for a devilish day of spooktacular fun for all to enjoy. Enjoy pumpkin carving competitions, fancy dress competitions, face painting, a kid’s monster mile walk, and fundraising activities throughout the day. Or, if you’re feeling brave enough, embark upon the hair-raising Horror Trail on 29th October 2022 (over 18s only). This 5km trail in the woods can be walked or run – but either way, it’s guaranteed to scare the life out of you!

Petrifying Pumpkin Picking at Walby Farm Park

Open during the whole month of October 2022, head to Walby Farm Park for some truly fang-tastic activities this Halloween. Each ticket includes a FREE pumpkin for each child, pumpkin carving workshops, corn cannon, indoor and outdoor adventure play, milecastle 62, plus the change to meet some adorable animals. So, grab a wheelbarrow and pick out your perfect pumpkin, before heading to the workshop for some petrifying pumpkin carving fun!
