Although our glamping sites are now closed until March 2024, The Lake District is a truly magical place to visit at this time of year; as frosty mornings decorate the lakes with sparkling white blankets and the region is abuzz with endless festive fun to get involved in.   1. Tinsel Train at Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway (selected weekends in December 2023)

Looking for an extra special family adventure this Christmas? Why not join Santa and his colourful characters on board the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Tinsel Train?! You’ll enjoy your very own private compartment which is embellished with beautiful Christmas decorations and filled with seasonal tunes. Whilst onboard, adults will be served by a Porter with a seasonal drink and snack, and children will receive a personally labelled, handpicked present from Father Christmas and his Railway Elves. Santa will visit your compartment and you can take a photo with the big man himself as he greets your family! You couldn’t ask for a better festive experience.

 

  1. Father Christmas Tea Party at The World of Beatrix Potter (selected dates from 2nd – 10th December 2023)

This Christmas, head to The World of Beatrix Potter where a magical family experience awaits you. Their Father Christmas Tea Party includes a Festive Afternoon Tea in a winter wonderland, a screening of The Snowman film, a gift for every child, and a photo opportunity with Santa himself. The party lasts around 75 minutes, and your ticket will also give you admission to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, so you can enjoy a full day of family fun.

 

  1. Santa’s Winter Wonderland at Hayes Garden World (selected dates from 3rd November – 23rd December 2023)

Enter the magical world of Narnia as you head to Hayes Garden World, where you can embark on a journey through the wardrobe into a mystical, icy wonderland. Pick up an activity sheet and see if you can find the golden keys Mr Beaver has hidden. There are plenty of fun snowball and fishing games to play along the way. Look out for Aslan and his friends but beware of the White Frosty Witch and her polar bears! Post your ticket and eagerly await the Elf to take you to see Father Christmas in his cosy grotto, where you can tell him your Christmas wishes and receive a present and book. What could be better?!

 

  1. Santa’s Grotto at Dobbies, Carlisle (25th November – 24th December 2023)

The perfect way to embrace the festive season this year is with a visit to Santa’s Grotto at Dobbies Garden Centre in Carlisle. Embark on a magical journey for children and adults alike and take in the atmosphere as you’re guided through the enchanted forest by a helpful elf. Find their Little Seedlings characters along the way, before arriving in the wildlife clearing where your little ones can make a special item to take home. Your experience will continue with a chance to meet Santa Claus, where children can share their Christmas wishes with Santa before receiving a gift.

 

  1. Santa’s Grotto at Honister Slate Mine (selected dates from 18th November – 23rd December 2023)

A fantastic family adventure this Christmas is a trip to the Honister Slate Mine, where you’ll be guided through hidden paths and passages by Holly Sparklefoot, a warm-hearted and mischievous Elf. Holly will guide you to board the bus to ascend the mountain path, lead you into the secret wonderland where you’ll meet mystical creatures and see the elves working tirelessly, and show you Santa’s sleigh being prepared for Christmas eve. In a magnificent glowing cavern, you’ll meet Santa Claus himself, as you gather around to share your Christmas wishes and receive a special gift from him. It truly is a festive adventure like no other!
