Via Ferrata
Half Day
The Via Ferrata is a unique half-day experience which is among the most popular Lake District activities and for a good reason.
It is a series of challenging exposed scrambles linked by;
- Metal ladders
- Wire bridges
- Cargo net
The scrambling leads to one of finest viewpoints in the Lake District, the top of Fleetwith Pike. Check it out on Google if you haven’t already!
There are 2 different Via Ferrata courses at the Honister Slate Mine;
- The classic one which follows a natural line up the side of the mountain
- And the ‘eXtreme’ once which involves crossing a ravine by a Burma Bridge before ascending a series of walls and slabs to reach the top of the mountain.
The instructors always aim to complete the eXtreme trip, as most people enjoy the added adventure of this version of the activity. However, the decision is up to you and your abilities.
During this activity you are connected to a wire safety cable at all times so that you can focus on enjoying the challenges thrown at you!
Beside the wire safety cable all specialist equipment are provided as well.
